Here's Some ALT Background......

old news for many, but an update might be beneficial.

August 2018

Carl Clark

After an earlier group went dormant in the 1940’s during World War II, the existing Ardmore Little Theatre started in 1955. We begin our 64th consecutive season with "The Mousetrap."

For ALT’s regular productions (season shows, summer musical and children’s musical), all auditions are open to the public; no ALT membership, experience or training are required. (For dinner theatre or other special shows, auditions might not take place.)

Becoming a ‘member’ of Ardmore Little Theatre is simple: just buy a season membership at any level. Among advantages of being a member are (a) reduced ticket prices, (b) recognition as a member, (c) the right to vote on ALT Board members and officers, and (d) eligibility to serve on the Board.

The ALT Board of Directors has eleven members. Nine are elected and serve three-year terms, with three Directors elected each year at the ALT membership meeting. Two members are appointed by the President for Board terms of one year. Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) are elected annually.

ALT offers workshops to help refresh and improve theatre knowledge, typically on a Saturday, free and open to the public. A new monthly program, “entertainment and education” Saturday afternoon sessions, will start soon with broader content. Watch for info on these or other opportunities as we expand educational efforts. And, please, tell us if there are performance or production skills you’d like to learn.

To produce its shows, ALT depends on volunteers (onstage, backstage, front-of-house, box office, costuming, set construction, etc.) You are encouraged to help with any production, and/or to work on a committee helping to plan and organize parts of ALT operations.

You also are invited to take part in two Ardmore Little Theatre affiliates. ALT & Co. seeks opportunities for performers to share their talents in support of other community activities. In frequent fun sessions, the ALT Irregulars help participants to develop improv skills and learn to think on their feet. If you are interested in joining these affiliates, ask any ALT Board member to help you get involved.
